Fatima is a passionate and dynamic educator and education adviser with over
30 years of educational psychology, teaching advisory and education management
experience. She has a unique ability to engage and inspire the most challenging of
children and young people, contribute positively to their education experience,
empower them and enable them to fulfil their potential and become responsible
citizens.
Fatima obtained her Masters degree in the Psychology of Education from London
University in 1982. Before becoming a primary teacher she trained and practised as
a psychotherapist and a coaching psychologist in her own private practice. She has
been developing her innovative blended teaching approach from the very beginning
where she incorporated her academic training into classroom practise by using therapeutic stories as a way to encourage thinking skills and cognitive development in her pupils.
Over the course of her teaching career she has held many different roles from deputy head teacher, governor, and special educational needs teacher in mainstream education, to advisory teacher for inclusion in a pupil referral unit, working in partnership with mainstream primary and secondary schools. She has experience of working in a team of experts to provide children’s assessment, joint visits and family sessions, all the while role modelling good practice, providing reflective supervision and practical development support.
Today, Fatima is a highly experienced trainer, having provided courses for teachers and teaching assistants and led seminars on relationships, productivity and team work for audiences of over 100 participants.
She is passionate about the potential young people have and having witnessed the classroom struggles of teachers, teacher assistants and SENCOs she recognised there is a profound need for a new approach to transform performance in the classroom for children most in need. Fatima has developed Big Talk Small Talk to empower a wider range of people in the teaching profession and teachers further afield with the skills, tools and techniques she has mastered over her career, so that they too can drive positive relationships with their students and transform their classrooms.
Fatima remains committed to her continuous learning as a practitioner and is a member of both the British Psychological Society, Special Group in Coaching Psychology and the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. Fatima is fluent in French and Arabic, has two wonderful adult daughters and lives in North West London.
